compassion

didn't really make any fun food today. or at least none that looked particularly attractive. had refried beans with lettuce for dinner. honey nut cheerios for breakfast -- did you need a visual for that? they're kind of hard to picture, i know.

went to church this morning. got some homework done this afternoon. watched half a season of how i met your mother while this all was taking place (the homework part, not during church). finally finished a paper due tomorrow for deaf literature, after an unexpected 5 minute nap and much procrastination. i'm considering going to bed early. i like waking up early before everything is busy. not really the best plan on a day that i have stuff literally every moment but that's alright.

there is just a lot of indescribable stuff going on right now.

found a [blog] the other day thanks to a cnn highlight. it's a family that is living down in haiti and describing what all is going on. quite the gripping story and a huge leap of faith on their part. i spent a huge amount of time reading that and then all of the links it took me to. we had a speaker on friday at IV large group from an organization called [compassion international]. they played a video describing what they do and i can't get one of the images of the children out of my head. i want so badly to go and get them all. saw a bunch of orphans today on cnn as well (this is seriously bad for me, i should be banned from cnn). i'm going to end up with 500 children if i don't watch out. luckily i have the sense that i'm only 19 and that would not really be of any help to their situation right now. but really, who can watch those videos and NOT want to do something?

kay, that's about all of the links and stories i have for today. apparently time alone is both good and bad for me.

the day is brighter here with You, the night is lighter than its hue which leads me to believe You make everything glorious and I am Yours, what does that make me?

The news from Haiti is heartbreaking. I listen to the
news on NPR and try to avoid the visual. Something
good could come of this. The world is focused on this
incredibly poor country and once this disaster gets
taken care of perhaps compassionate persons will
get serious about helping these persons . In the
meantime the wars cost us something like 10 billion
dollars a week. What a waste of lives (ours and theirs),
resources and money. Other places to put it.
Love you
