She is currently making me corn pudding-- mmm it's my favorite. Going off to babysit in less than an hour.

Laundry--Who Needs the Clothes?
My mom was joking before about what she would have to do to be considered "blog-worthy". Well mom, you did it! Today she came home from the grocery store and decided to put in a load of laundry.. got all of the soapy stuff in, started the water etc, closed the lid. Come to find out 20 or so minutes later that she forgot to put the clothes in! Whoops!

The Dark Ages
Why, yes, we are the only family in the United States that relies on rabbit ears to watch tv. And yes, the HUGE pile of books that the rabbit ears are sitting on are required to see a clear picture. Sarah says that when she grows up she's going to tell her children that our parents made us wear bonnets and watch tv with antennas on top of huge piles of books. Hey, at least it will make a good story.
We've Got Ourselves a Burrito Bowl Virgin!
Last week Alison, Megan and I went to Red Robin for dinner except we were so full from dinner that we had no room for milkshakes (which happen to be a red robin special) so we decided to come back tonight just for milkshakes to ensure empty tummies.

Afterwards Alison and Megan got burritos from Chipotle (I came home to eat with my family instead). But we did sit down at a table for 5 minutes so that Alison and I could check another table off of our list-- I think we only have 3 left!

Sistine Chapel & the Tornado
The room is done! My mom spent all of last week (like we're talking 7 hour runs without lunch) painting their room. Here's the final result, doesn't it look good? :)

Oh yeah, and here's my disaster of a room. It's somewhat less inviting than my parents room above, but don't worry it'll get cleaned up in a few days.

Adventures with the Chipmunk
Yeah, yeah.. so i've been horrible at updating my blog recently.
Thursday:
Helped my mom paint some in the morning and then went over to Alison's to bring her a smoothie around 2 after she got her wisdom teeth out. She was a bit groggy but unfortunately the meds didn't knock her out (note: i didn't want her to get knocked out.. it's just more comfortable when your mouth is swollen and giant :P) so we watched a bunch of gilmore girls episodes. I got pretty good at cutting and folding gauze and running up and down for more ice. Came home around 6 to have dinner with my family and then went back to Alison's around 8. Laid around and such. Watched a few more gilmore girls. I fell asleep from about 1 until 2 am and then we both woke up, Alison in pain, me just because. We both ended up not falling back asleep until 6:30 am. Yeah, that was cool. Woke back up around 7 and then 7:30 and then 8 and then I didn't fall asleep until 9. So i'm pretty sure I slept a total of 3 hours.. perhaps less. But it's alright, I didn't mind :)
Friday:
Stayed at Alison's all day again, I honestly don't remember what we did. I'm assuming there was more gauze and ice involved. Went home for dinner and then came back around 8. Emily was visiting Alison already and then Megan and Sam showed up so it was almost a party :P Ended up watching the Olympics until everyone feel asleep. Slept over again... despite the 3 hours of sleep from the night before I managed to stay awake until 2am, impressive?! I think the pain killers were helping a bit more that night so we both got a little more sleep.
Saturday:
Woke up and Alison and I made carrot cake (our favorite thing to make as of late). Watched some gilmore girls and hung around until my parents got there. Our two families have been planning forever to watch Gone With the Wind (our parents say it's a must before we head off for college). So with Alison's chipmunk teeth it seemed like a perfect opportunity. Of course, food is a must. We had dinner before the movie... hamburgers (veggie burgers for those so inclined), corn pudding!!!, watermelon, mac&cheese, grilled corn and tomatoes. It was quite tasty. The movie actually was a lot better/shorter than expected. Not my favorite movie of all times, but you know it had to be alright if I managed to stay awake for 4 hours.
Sunday:
College shopping! There have been various shopping trips throughout the summer to get supplies for next year. Yesterday our whole family went out with one thing in mind: a cubby system. Okay, well my dad was the only one super excited about it. I do have to admit it's pretty neat though. We went to Target, Best Buy, Staples and Bed Bath & Beyond and managed to get a variety of clear plastic boxes for maximum storage. Alison came over around 6 and slept over.
Monday:
Packing: Day One.
My room is a complete and udder disaster. So bad, in fact, that it resembles the aftermath of a tornado. But, not to worry it is a completely organized disaster. I think that it might be a fire hazard though since you kind of have to wind your way out to the door. I've managed to pack all of my clothes minus a few things that I'm still wearing. Still have some winter coats to pack too and some sheets to wash. What do I intend to wear until move in, you might ask? Answer: Sarah's clothes! But shhh, she doesn't know yet. It's so hard to believe that I only have 11 days left. I still don't feel like i'm actually going anywhere, yeah, yeah I know I'm in for a big shock.

Freckled Lemonade
Had a doctors appointment yesterday morning to have another mole removed. This will be number four. For the past 3 procedures I've asked to watch the entire thing because for some reason I got a kick out of someone shoving a needle in my head or leg.. except this time even the thought of the needle grossed me out so I didn't watch. I do however have 3 lovely stitches in my stomach. Aside from the feeling like someone was repeatedly stabbing me in the stomach with a knife, everything is just fine. I think I may have had a minor allergic reaction to the bandaid as well. Go figure.

It's a Bird, It's a Plane... It's a Giant Pizza Bubble!
(Note: If you have not visited my blog in a while, there are two posts below this one in case you missed them... one from vacation one from earlier today. I spent today catching up on the past week hence the three posts in one day...)
Like I said previously, my mom has been painting, sanding, cleaning their bedroom/bathroom. Today's job was the ceiling. I appointed myself project coordinator and took it upon myself to stand and point out all the mistakes (all in good fun, of course) and take pictures of the painting. Sarah helped paint a bit on the ceiling.. she was so tall standing on the ladder that she had to take her hair down or it would hit the ceiling! When you take a look at the second picture, yes, that is, in fact, a large blue reclining chair sitting in the bathroom. It has been deemed the "flossing chair" for the time being.
Since my mom spent long hours again today painting, Sarah and I took on the task of dinner once again. Tonight's dinner: pizza. Nope, not frozen pizza, pizza from dominos or pizza hut... homemade tasty pizza. Sarah made the dough.. I think the conversation went something like this:
Me: Taste this dough, it's pretty good!
Sarah: No way, that's gross.
Me: No really, taste it. (attempts to shove some in sarah's mouth)
Sarah: (running away) ewwwwww.
Me: What's in this anyway?
Sarah: You know... flour, salt, yeast...
Me: Woahh, so i'm going to rise?!
Yes.. one of my brighter moments.
(sarah had already finished rolling this one out and i didn't have my camera out in time so i made her stand there and pretend to roll it out again.. she's a pretty good actor ;)
(it's a giant pizza bubble!!! it took over half of the pizza)
That'll Do Pig...
Now that I've finally finished that vacation post I can get back to the everyday shenanigans that go on around here.

Let's see, Sunday night Alison slept over and we made a carrot cake! It was the tastiest thing ever. You see, we have this list that we formulated earlier this year of all the things we wanted to do together before I leave for college. We're about 3/4ths of the way through the list.. probably not going to finish it all before I leave in 17 days, but thats what thanksgiving/christmas breaks are for :)
(we had to dye a large bowl of frosting orange for the carrot on top of the cake)
Yesterday my mom spent over 5 hours sanding a ceiling.. yes, a CEILING. You know the whole craining your neck for hours on end with your hand above your head.. doesn't sound very fun :( Anyway, she asked Sarah and I to make dinner so we set off to Giant and decided on greek salad, hummus, bread and cheese.. followed by carrot cake of course ;) Just for the heck of it we ate in the dinner room (a room we've had dinner in twice in the past 10 or so years..)

The Long Awaited Post
Vacation was excellent. Eight days, seven nights. We couldn't have felt any further from home-- in a good way, of course. For those who don't know, my family along with some family friends (our dad's met through work a long time ago and we've been friends ever since) went down to Bald Head Island it's the furthest point off the coast of North Carolina. This is no ordinary island. Unlike the rest of modern civilization, there are no cars. Instead golf carts is the preferred way of travel and that satisfies pretty much everyone, including the dog. To get there it's about a 7 hour drive (leaving at 4:30am) and we arrived at the Ferry Station around noon. Parked the cars, unloaded everything and then said goodbye to the mainland as we boarded the Ferry. Our friends own a condo in Bald Head so we all stayed there.

Now you'll have to bear with me. If I were to recall each and every solitary detail of our vacation you would probably be sitting here reading for the next 72 hours or so and it might take me right up until the day I have to leave for college to write it. So as to not waste your time and mine, i'll sum up the rest and use pictures (which pretty much speak for themselves. Eventually I hope to get an album up on picsaweb so you should be able to access the rest of my pictures. I've also started loading them on flickr.. Let me just tell you it takes FOREVER to deal with 520 pictures. I might not get around to some until Christmas :)

We spent much of the week in some body of water or another, between our afternoon beach runs and four hour long pool sessions. Luckily, even with my pasty white skin I managed to never get sunburned-- amazing, huh? I even got the slightest tan on my shoulders. Managed to finish the only 3 books I had brought by midweek so I was left to find other things to do with my time... which mostly involved zipping around the island in a golf cart. We ate lots of watermelon, pizza at the pool and the occasional late night brownie snack. Okay, so we did eat healthy food too. The easiest way to plan meals for the beach is to just bring food from home so we brought fixings for burritos, hot dogs (not for me), chicken, pasta salad, etc. Since there is no direct route to the island other than the ferry it makes things pretty expensive.

(taylor, sarah and i... yeah we just gave up trying to do our hair all week, it always got messed up in the pool or in a golf cart)
